They call him 'Johnny Football'

Johnny Manziel

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel (2)

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel broke a 40-year-old record held by Rebel great Archie Manning last week. Now he brings his magician-in-quarterback's-clothing show to town

    • Question? How good is A&M's OL? I know he makes plays by extending the play but outside of maybe Florida he certainly hasn't seen a DL with as much speed as Ward, Gross & CJ have. The kid can certainly play though, should be an exciting game.

Likely two first Rounders at tackle. The rest are returning starters.

So, very good at pass protection. Run blocking has been mediocre but it was better last game.

Keep in mind that Florida never sacked him during that game. Plus he's improved since that game. He's a special player.

Coming into this game, our defense was the question mark--new system, new DC, lost some talent from last year. That unit has been amazing good and productive. Plenty of sacks and pressures on the QB--started with 8 sacks against Driskell.

Surprisingly, our O-line has produced some head scratching. Still getting used to pass blocking, I guess.

I'd like to see better results from our RB's, though if you include bubble screens and outlets to RB's as part of the run game, they've done ok.

Aggies have knocked out 2 SEC safeties this year, Evans in week 1 and some puss from Arky last week

    • No doubt that there will be points from both sides.. I'm not crazy about some of the matchups for our D but this a much different and improved D from the Texas game. You guys have some really good playmakers at RB, WR and QB and a good Oline. While the QB is obviously very talented its also the young QBs first SEC road trip. For us to win we will have to break his rhythm and cause some uncharacteristic turnovers and try to prevent the huge play on the ones he extends. If we can stop our turnovers I like our chances. This should be a fun game to watch.

    • That's Johnny F'n Football, to be precise.

As much as I hate to say it, the kid is a gamer. Ole Miss is going to have to find a way to knock him around a bit and get some turnovers. Should be a fun game to watch.

Now that I'm reading BanditReb's post, mine should just say "what he said."

Hope aggy enjoys the gameday atmosphere as much as the Texas fans did while we were in Oxford.

And if anyone is going and doesn't have a place to crash yet, there's a state park about 20 min northwest of Oxford on Lake Sardis. Not too bad of a place to rest your head in a pinch.
