13 for '13

Four drop off and four come on in our monthly look at the 13 "priority" recruits from the Class of 2013 for Ole Miss...

  • love the guys on the list, any and all would be great! However, how is an O lineman not in the list of top priority recruits? What big time OL are we on? Or are maybe just on the verge of being on this list?

    BanditReb

  • Good question. O-line is definitely a critical-needs position, however, as the criteria states, one of the main factors is where Ole Miss stands with the recruit. A few could have made this list, but it is a formula of potential and talent mixed with the chances of Ole Miss signing the recruit. I could blow smoke at you about certain O-linemen, but I'm not going to do it. This is not a wish list. Good question, nevertheless.

  • Obviously, Deon Mix from South Panola has been offered...Davion Johnson from Byhalia has committed...Jake Thomas from Columbus is a strong MSU lean...Laremy Tunsil is too wide open right now...Remember, regardless of position, the 13 for 13 is a combination of the best guys that Ole Miss has the best shot at. Nothing more. It's not a wish list. If it were, it would be completely different.

  • I get it. The fact is we don't have an inside track on any great offensive linemen right now. They got to like us and be talented to make the list. I hear mixed reviews on Mix at Panola. Not a "wish list." Makes perfect sense. Thanks for not shooting us any crap David. On another site, every 4 and 5 star recruit in the nation is coming to Ole Miss. That is fantasy.

What he said. I came to this site because it wasn't full of shot. Please don't start making things up to make us feel better. Fact is I dont think we're in on any bigtime o linemen right now.

  • I think Freeze is giving the guys we have right now on the Oline a chance. He continues to talk about the strides they are making and the potential and how far they have come. He must see something in these guys. When fall comes around Paul Jackson will have these guys in shape and ready for football!

  • Head meet nail.

Here is the bottom line on most OLs. You can develop them....if you have something to work with. Our OL looks slow..out of shape..and do not have the bodies of SEC OL. HOWEVER...that can change. Paul Jackson has his work cut out for him with these guys...BUT it can be done. August looms large...and lots of work has to be done before then. You can develop OL more than any other position....

I got the criteria for the list. David gave me the answer I thought he would and it was the one I was scared of as well haha. I LOVE the recruiting Freeze is doing and I'm not critizing just hoping to see some top notch OL get signed. Gotta have the big guys on both sides of the ball to win. As for developing OL, I totally agree. That is a position that can be developed but what's the root of the problem at almost every position? DEPTH...... Just saying, wouldn't hurt to add a couple top OL to 2013 :)1

  • you are absolutely 100% correct.
