Seriously. In all 3 phases of the game they are poorly coached. Mullen is supposed to be an offensive coach and they struggle on offense anytime they don't win the turnover margin decisively. It's obvious they had an offensive identity crisis this year when they had a QB who was better suited for passing, as opposed to running.
Defensively with the departure of Fletcher Cox they can't generate any type of disruption against the run or any pass rush. Banks is an incredibly overrated corner who made his name in 2010 when MSU's DL was causing errant throws by opposing QBs.
Special teams are average.
I hope Mullen stays there a loooong time.
They don't run Perkins enough in my opinion. Northwestern was having a tough time with him. When your QB throws two INTs...don't throw the ball more, runtime. Or you can let him throw 2 more.
Kill that man Patrick WIllis!
That is correct. He had some gaps but they stops feeding him.
24 up votes and 3 / 4 down votes is almost like giving everyone a trophy, win or lose.
They looked all around awful. Hotty Toddy!
Murlens is losing what little swagger he had. Every coach that leaves exposes him as not being a very good coach.
The Future Is Bright! Hotty Toddy
He better hire him an offensive line coach and a qb coach or we won't be whooping his tail after next year..will miss ol' hunch back! Lol
During the game Mullen looked clueless to me. Things were not going well and he had no answer.
I will say this though. I thought their uniforms looked good.
The bedazzled face masks? It looks like one of the coaches daughters got a hold of them with her sparkly nail polish...
I have no sympathy for them. Living in the Delta, I have a lifetime of experience back and forth with State fans. I ALWAYS kept in mind that MSU was a Mississippi Team. Three and one half years of leg humper yakking is going to take longer to wear off for me that I would have thought. Watching the game, I felt like their D had them figured out in the 2nd quarter. More likely than not, the shift was conservative play calling on the other side. In any event, a shift to Prescott and running the ball would have won it for them. Mullen should have spotted the fact that Russell was still suffering from CJJ-PSTD (C. J. Johnson Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and made the change necessary to win the game. The better coached team won the game.
Haha! CJJ PTSD!
Long story short..... No.
or you can look at the team as a whole and understand the irrelevance they play in the grand scheme of the SEC (now their success is in such places as the SWAC, the MAC, and Div II). so, your call on that my friend
