Not making the NCAA Tournament for 6 years is not realistic. If we were in the Big East maybe you'd have a case. 6 years not making the NCAA is bogus. That sounds like expectations set by the Pete Boone regime.
Am I the only one that remembers 4 straight losing seasons before Kennedy got here?
What's the difference between those 4 teams and Kennedy's 6 teams to date? They all watched the tournament from the living room.
Yes, this is true. I'm not satisfied that we haven't made the tournament in his 7th year (even though we're one win away). But, I'm also realisitc enough to be appreciative where our program is at and where it could be.
I'm not saying that AK as our answer. But, I'm not going to be niave enough to think that anybody given that same resources could do any better.
When a fanbase bitches and moans about not making the NCAA tournament, but basketball is an afterthought and time filler between the end of football and start of baseball. Then they don't show up to games or donate $ and are sitting on the couch in March wondering why our team is not in the tournament!!
That's the difference
I will say this. If Kennedy makes the tournament, he earns a 2-3 year extension. If he does not, he has to go.
The Rebels have won 18 Southeastern Conference team titles during the Billy Chadwick era (the last 30 years).
How are you so convinced we are one win away? Because of the 24 win fact? There is a first for everything. This year could be it with all the "top" teams losing a few. It's very realistic. I'm not convinced by any stretch of the imagination that we are one away.
Kill that man Patrick WIllis!
Kennedy fails to excite fans to show up...or give the confidence that he can succeed. If he did....they would show up...and fight for tickets. Ole Miss fans have proved this time and time again...and yes...in basketball too. I have seen tickets being scalped out in front of that Tad Pad for 100 bucks per ticket. I have seen countless sellouts....hell..had a stretch here this year...until...well the confidence of good play evaporated. Saw 50,000 rebels travel to a bowl game for a 6 win football team based on excitement and hope. They watch a highly motivated team that plays tooth and nail and follow suit.
Kennedy has fire...but what he lacks in what appears to be adequate control of his team. His team goes through periods of extremely poor play...and it has happened to one extent or another each and every year he has been here. It was and is devastating this year especially...cause it cost Ole MIss its first overall SEC championship. Kennedy has done some thing really well....but gaining the trust of his team and fans.... he has failed.
He will in all likelihood be back next year....and if he makes it to the NCAA...there will not be any question. But make no mistake...he has lost a great number of the fan base....and I hope he makes a great run to gain some back. I hope he gets his team under control to play discipline offensive and defensive basketball... CONSISTENTLY...do that...he could be here forever if he chooses....but winning 20 games is not a qualifier...its the NCAA tourney. Minimal...he should have been there at least 3 times in his tenure here. (Bad losses have prevented this from happening...Like losing to the worst MSU team in 50 years is SOOOO FRUSTRATING.... and these type of losses happen every year for him.) Hope he turns it around...I pray he does.

One thing I think we've overlooked is the fact that the NCAA tourney does not truly represent the best 64 teams in the nation. With the tournament tie-ins, which is a joke, several undeserving teams get in every year. Without these, I believe the Rebs go at least 4 times in AK's tenure. I know, we are bound by the imperfect nature of the selection process, but I just wanted to add a different perspective to the conversation.
Its true what you said.... but with what you said put into consideration...without late season losses to teams that we should have beat (like MSU this year)....we failed...and has cost us at least 3 bids during AK tenure. Just to put in perspective.
Some are ok with that...but to me...it shows a disturbing trend. However..make no mistake... I hope our fortunes change... we win one or two during the SEC tourney and make the NCAA's...but history says we will not. So AK...certainly has opportunity here. Frankly I am so mad at the snubbing of our players by all SEC.... no body is rooting harder than me for Kennedy to prove folks wrong.
Just win baby win...end of discussion.
With such a crappy conference and such a talented team, by SEC standards, we should be in the show already. We should've been in 2 weeks ago. Oh well, got to move on and best Mizzou and then whoever else. We have a pretty good draw right now. I know Mizzou is hot but they are beatable. I'd rather play them than Florida. We don't match up well with the Gators. We just have to win. If our guys are jogging down the court and giving a half ass effort, I will turn it off without hesitation. I suggest the rest of you follow suit. It may save a couple years of your life. They should put it all out on the court. AK knows who he should be preparing for. If this team isn't ready then it is on him. This is the best team we have had under him and will likely be the best team we will ever have under him if he does make it another year or two. If he is going to do it, the time is now. No more bs.
