USCw fan here. Unlike a lot of college football fans right now, I think it's pretty sweet how Ole Miss is getting all these southern 5* recruits. I imagine a big reason there is so much interest in your program right now is because Freeze is able to successfully sell the idea that an all-star class will have the ability to 1. play early and 2. pave the way for a new SEC powerhouse (under a proven coaching staff). With that, I decided to take a look at your roster and am trying to put together a depth chart (I do it for a lot of times...weird hobby, I know). Offense seems pretty cut and dry based off 2012 statistics, however, defense--and specifically the DL--is hard for an outsider to prognosticate. I was wondering if you guys could help me out and reply to this thread with how you predict your defensive depth will look?
You can do offense as well, but my only questions there are; where would Tunsil appear on the OL depth chart, if he were to end up at Ole Miss? Would Laquon Treadwell be a starter? I'm assuming Moncrief and Sanders will be starters, but not sure if Treadwell or Logan gets the nod for the 3rd spot; RB depth 1-5?
Assume Nkemdiche signs, as well as whomever else you feel will ultimately commit.
Way to early to count any of these recruiting eggs before they hatch IMO...let's wait till after signing day has passed then I'll gladly indulge you with my thoughts on this intriguing subject.
i dont even wanna touch the dline, too many ppl that can play at all 4 spots
at wr we run 3-5 at a time so i figure Moncrief, Sanders, Treadwell, Logan, and C. Moore should all see the field, maybe even Brassel at times
and rb i look for brunetti, Scott, and Walton to see the ball alot and maybe even Matthers
all in all having options and depth is completely new to us

They won't move brunetti to rb I dont think. Not with the running back we have coming in this year. We are loaded at Qb too but he is a veteran and we have 2 freshman coming in and kincade will probably be redshirted bc of his size at around 180 I believe. And with the offense we run bo could get hurt at any time (hate to say it) and I also see Dodson and Barber getting some touches this year as well
I will take a stab at it, although so many variables to this as OM plays so many diff sets week to week depending on the opponent.................
Now this is assuming uncommitted guys like Conner and Nkemdiche do sign as most expect
I agree with you on this, but I am curious to see if Nkemdiche stays at DE or if they line him up on the inside.. Especially if we get Jones and keep Daniels from going to Auburn
Ward wil be a starter.
Need to add 330 lbs Woodrow Hamilton to dline mix. He got hurt at bama. He can and will hold the point of attack better then Pena.
Golson will start NFL talent.
What, you forgot Dt Shackleford.
Oline. SE lost one starter. Can't predict what will happen.
24 up votes and 3 / 4 down votes is almost like giving everyone a trophy, win or lose.
i think brunetti moves to rb/wr or mackey role, Miller moves to second on the depth charts to get him experience. just my thoughts on what i think/would like to happen. Miller is a great talent and i brunetti was used as mainly as a rb behind center when he was in this year anyway
i would probably just add C Thompson, W Hamilton, and K Wood in pass rush situations either on the ends or as a stand-up rusher
I don't see Brunetti moving from the QB position, although I think he's open to it if the coaches decide to go that direction. I would like to see him get more playing time myself, but he's the solid #2 at this point in my opinion.
Idk if Golson is NFL talent persay he gets beat a lot but he does have some ints to his credit.. Brassell and Sawyer on the other hand forsure NFL talent and I also dont think Hamilton will be able to hold the point of attack like Pena, Pena was a beast
Pena might have been the surprise of the year in my opinion. He doesn't get much credit with being on the D line and all, but our run def was stout at that point.
the real problem is we have too many ppl that can play at qb and rb.....why oh why must we bare this curse
Yea really. When was the last time we had choices at QB? LOL
when we went with Flatt instead of Lane, put Lane at TE and NEVER threw to him. Lane was alot like tebow just with fewer weapons and a better arm imo smh
Wow, I had completely forgotten about those two. Memories I'm certain I chose not to remember.
haha yea the years between spurlock under center to Snead under center are a little fuzzy to me as well, as was HDN's last year. BTW does anyone else remember all the heart breaking losses to bama under coach o??
why you have to bring up the Doyle Jackson replay official can now call a penalty/foul on a player that you couldnt do before or after that moment
officials love to change the rules just for us dont they?
