Poor effort by team and coaches. Lack of emotion in big game. Poor execution and lots of secondary confusion. Thats 2 losses I pin on Freeze.
Well Freeze doesn't handle the defense
PositivePete- Dasshatriggeman is a bama plant on this site. His dugie houser underling always up votes him.
Yea maybe one day we will have some descent players and coaches maybe we should pay someone some descent money that can coach a team I'm tired of people making excuses we are terrible and we can only beat terrible teams bottom line I'm giving my state tickets away because no one in there right mind would by them
Yes he does handle the defense! He is the head coach!!!
He doesn't call in the plays or point out where the guys should line up.... it's his job to coach up the offense
It's his Job to Coach Up this Whole Team... Blown coverages everywhere on that last drive
well go yell at McGriff and Wommack then
Send me over a PM where I can come get those tickets. I would be happy to pay for them if you change your mind about giving them away. Either way, I am looking forward to the MSU game. I hope you got us good seats.
Anyway, this loss hurts. I am not sure I how I feel at this point, but I am not going to give up on this team. I am certain that if you hang with this team they will make it up to you.
Section o row 11 I'm gonna spend that ten grand somewhere else next year
I do question our play calls from time to time but I'm never gonna give up on them just like I didn't last year and I won't this year I only expected 3 to 4 wins this year so 5 and a good chance at 6 I am very pleased with. Hotty Toddy! Rebel thru and thru are you?
People like you are why we will always be below average
So you thought we would win how many games this year with a new system and staff?
To compete for the middle of the SEC will not be enough soon enough. That is what we are doing now. I did not expect this. I am enjoying the rise from the bottom of the SEC.
I have a lot of thoughts on the matter, but I'll just say here that I'm hoping Freeze & his staff learn how to win games in 2013. We absolutely cannot continue to play to simply not lose. We have to play, instead, to win. These two statements may sound the same, but there are distinct differences between the philosophies.
Couple of observations:
Freeze promised only one thing for 2012: 60 minutes of passionate play week after week.
I think we have largely seen that to be true on the field. These kids have heart and deep talent.
He purposely did not promise any specific number of wins in 2012 so that whatever was accomplished would be something to be proud of and build upon. This is a tactic - setting appropriate expectations - that I virtually always support, even in this case; however, I am heartbroken because our team has shown more promise than our record now reflects. 7-3 is way more palatable than 5-5.
Also, I'm with my fellow poster above who attributes two of our close losses this year directly to Freeze & Co. TAMU & Vandy, I believe, are both byproducts of less-than-stellar handling of the gameplan.
I would rather have our guys play hard but be completely outmatched on the field and take a loss than to have us play with 100% and be lead to the L-column by poor decision-making from the sidelines.
One last blurb: I still believe Freeze is the man for the job and I think he has the staff in place to support what he is trying to do. i am in no way advocating against him or the team he has built. I am, however, hoping that he and his staff continues to learn and grow right along side of their players. If they can do that, then our current youth will be lighting up the SEC (and possibly even onto the NFL) over the next several seasons.
*Apologies for the disjointed nature of this post. Emotions are running high and I have a lot of thoughts trying to pour of my head thanks to tonight's game.
I see people want to jump off the wagon now. We lost 30 to 7 last year. Nobody thought we would be where we are at. Im with this team to the bitter end!!!HOTTYTODDY!!!!!
Maybe we could get David Copperfield to coach us. Clearly you want us to magically go from 2 wins to 10 wins with the wave of a majic wand.
Oh and we had really good players in 08 & 09. Who recruited a lot of those guys?????
Coaches lose games sometimes Miles last week against Alabama had some very costly calls. Heck Sabin just today played the whole first half without having a qb spy plating against Johnny Football. If those guys have bad calls I expect a few from a first year SEC coach.
This team is very young. We are going to be ok. Although we had major breakdowns last night, this team is going through growing pains. They are in the process of learning a new system and the coaches are learning their players. We knew this would happen. It just hurts to see it happen like this. Usually up 23-6 in the second half you have to feel about your chances though.
Sorry for the double post
bunch of fair weather fans in here. this team has come a long long way, and i'll continue to support them.
depth and injuries are killing us.
Exactly. This is what I mean by old school fans. We will get better
Freeze single-handedly lost this game. And before you guys blast away, no I haven't given up on Freeze, nor will I. The guy has done wonders. But his playcalling last night was simply inexcusable. To jump out 23-6 on Vandy in the 3rd quarter, and lose is just mindboggling. It was almost like we were trying to lose the game with that playcallling. I'll let you guys have the rest of the thread. But there's no other way around it, Freeze's playcalling cost us the game last night and probably a much-needed bowl game. Trust me, no one hates to admit that more than me.
Who called the plays to get the 23-6 lead? Sure I thought some of the plays that were run should have been different but we all have the luxury of hindsight. The coach has to call the plays on the fly. I am confident these coaches know the personnel they have much better than me. So I give them the benefit of the doubt as to how to handle this team.
In time if the same results are seen, then yes it is time to criticize.
