That's right boys and girls of rebel land the leading rebounder and scorer in the SEC are on the 2nd team. To me this is just another slap in the face to the Rebs. As like many of you I watch the other teams in the conference and while there are some worthy players you have to believe that the most entertaining player in Henderson and one of the best big men in the conference is just not right. Wonder how many KY players and Mizzou players are on the 1st team since those 2 teams are the darlins of the SEC. C'mon y'all
Trevor Releford made 1st team.... WTF???
Henderson wasn't snubbed. He attempted 336 3-pointers, the next closest being 210, and no one else over 200. He played poor defense. There are better all around players than him. Murphy Holloway was snubbed.
Guess Alabama gets everything lol
Johnny O Bryant over Murphy Holloway?? Hahahaha that whole 1st team is a joke! Henderson did get snubbed
This whole "he shot 300 threes" is complete BS!
Do you take your best starting pitcher out of the game bc he throws to many pitches?
Don't you give your star running back as many carries as possible if you know he's capable of getting 100 and breaking away on any play?
This guy is the best shooter and often the best player on the floor. why should he be penalized for the amount of shot he takes if that's what it takes to get the W. what he lacks on defense he makes up with energy and hustle.
And lets get real. He should take more 3's than everyone else bc thats what hes a better shooter than almost everyone. Its not like hes going to score 20 driving through the lane. He's a shooter that can occastionally score a floater or layup.
I felt that Henderson played very hard on defense...gave effort that sometimes others did not. I guess not everyone sees the same thing. Henderson not 1st team is a joke.
Do people realize that 2nd half of SEC schedule...that there was a concerted effort to stop Henderson...because if you stop him...you win. Do you know that they would OFTEN double team him on the perimeter? The effort to stop him was over the top.....and there were times we asked him to still score...DESPITE the overwhelming pressure..... guys...those who think he is not that special....please.... the guy hardly EVER gets open looks...cause when he does...his shot is unbelievably accurate. The failure comes because we do not make teams PAY for putting so much effort to stop Henderson.... Late in the season... Alabama...LSU...those games....we are coming close to achieving this.... LSU put the effort in ...and Buckner and Holloway made them pay..... Henderson is all SEC..and the freaking coaches know it... they just took vengeance on the guy cause they don't like him. nothing more.
It is sad that we don't have at least one guy up there. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised though. Screw em. I hope NativeFlash drops 35 on Mizzou.
Kill that man Patrick WIllis!
The ace pitcher and stud running back analogy is poor. In those situations they are only risking their health and not so much overall effectiveness. Marshall averages 19.7 PPG. Marshall has shot 121-336 from behind the arch. That's 215 misses, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that 50% were good looks. That's 107 wasted possessions. His steals per game, 1.4, and assists per game, 1.8, turnovers per game, 1.8, is almost negligible. He does get 3.1 rebounds/game.
Trevor Releford averages 15.6 PPG. 2.5 rebounds/game. 2.7 assists/game. 2.1 steals per game. 1.8 turnovers/game. 44-101 from behind the arch. Overall more efficient and a better all around player.

It's not 107 wasted possessions when we lead the conference in offensive rebounding
PositivePete- Dasshatriggeman is a bama plant on this site. His dugie houser underling always up votes him.
No, my analogies make sense.
You can't limit the amount of reps your best player gets because he is the best chance for your team to have
Marshall outscored every person on the 1st team all SEC (Releford, McCrae, KCP, Pressey, Noel, Murphy, and O'Bryant) when we played them except for Evan turner and phil pressey once at mizzou when we played head to head.
Henderson was by snubbed. Holloway was.
We get no respect in basketball or football really. I'm hoping things are about to change, but with those losses to A&M, S. Carolina and MSU, I think that really gave the outside world a reason to sour on our basketball season.
I think Henderson and Murphy both deserved first team SEC honors as well. Who cares how many shots he took, it's how many he makes that counts. Nobody goes around asking how many shots someone took to score X amount of points or baskets. The bottom line is that Henderson is the scoring leader in the SEC, and this was with him getting special attention through most of the second half of conference play. He normally had some kind of hatchet guy assigned to him to just follow him around and bump him the entire game. To still pull off some of the shots he made with that kind of defensive pressure speaks volumes to me.
Murphy had a stretch of several games where he seemed to get caught in the shuffle with little output, but he's been back since the S. Carolina game in my opinion and playing better than ever since that point.
2nd team is where Marshall deserves to be this year. Being a good, streaky shooter doesn't make you 1st team
Guys and girls, don't pay attention to 13, he would rather. Murph and Marshall not get any recognition because he wants AK fired. Unable to see the forest for the trees! Henderson led the team in steals, don't get the poor defense idea. He works it off on both ends of the floor. He got snubbed! Murph is second team and deserves it, big honor! Hotty Toddy
Marshall and Murphy got snubbed point blank. Ask any coach in the country and they would want them in their starting lineup. This is a slap in the face point blank. I hope they use this as ammo and whip the *#@! out of everybody in the SEC tourney and beyond. GTHLSU and GTHSEC!
He may have gotten steals but he was a glaring hole in our half court defense. I fully support these players, they have nothing to do with Kennedy. Point is there is better guards than Henderson this season. Johnny O over Murph was a snub. I'm not gonna back down from my perspective. 20 PPG game is nice but an asterisks should be placed beside it because shooting 174-458 from the field hurt us as much as it helped us at times. You all know it. But no, he just didn't get picked because everyone hated him.
ETA: There are only two players in the top 40 of Avg PPG that shoot less than .400 from the field. One being Marshall Henderson at .380. The other, some fellow that plays for Oakland, Travis Bader at .381.
I don't get the Marshall can't play defense either.... not sure how that started....but I usually see that kid giving great effort on D. I personally think its a crock.
Without Marshall...we be about 5 or 6 wins lighter....just saying.... the guy gets to the FT line more than anyone in the league.
Lastly....after following the Sec for 40 years.... I can say with 100% certainity....that there IS A BIAS against Ole Miss and her players in a variety of sports .... with out one shadow of doubt.... has been since the 70's

The bias thing is real. Any game that comes down to a call by the refs is a sure loss for us. We never get a call, never have really. The only way we are going to ever get the win is to do it straight up! The Kentucky game is a perfect example. Noel should have fouled out long before that game was over. He blocked everything that came his way, and fouled almost every time and he played 5 mins without a single foul. That was the Refs and they allowed that and it cost us that game. How many times has Bama screwed us due to bad calls from the Refs in football. Happens over and over, at least too often for chance.
I almost think it's a SEC rule that is unwritten. If the call is close, it goes to the team that has a chance to go furthest in post season play. More money and recognition for the SEC that way.
Look...if you really want to get in to it... I think the whole damn thing is Fixed... Its all about money...get this... Florida...the best team in the SEC by far...went the final 7 and half minutes of the Kentucky game with out scoring a single point.....NOT ONE>....this allowed Kentucky to make a franic come back that has the solidly in the tourney.... If they lose that game.... if they lost.... they were firmly OUT.
Guys.... I could go on...and on...and on....but the SEC can't "afford" for KY to be out of the tourney...and guess what...they aren't. People who think the fix is not in (especially with KY in basketball...and Bama in football... with this commissionaire make me laugh!
ANd...its not going to change...unless the outrage is exposed..and the fans demand it....the whole damn thing is corrupt like i have never seen it before....but by all means.... Ole Miss nor Henderson deserve a thing.
What I don't get is how is a team like Western Kentucky with a 155 rpi and only 20 win projected to be in and we're out
Hey 13, it's all in fun. I know you love the Rebs too, we just see our team differently. If we all agreed, this board would be no fun! I still support AK and am gonna miss the seniors. One win and we can banter more next year:)
I agree with you.
