The Rebels will travel to Nashville on Thursday, Aug. 29 to play Vanderbilt for the season opener. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. CST and will be televised live on ESPN.
Per Ole Miss SID:
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss’ 2013 football season opener at Vanderbilt has been moved to a Thursday night primetime slot on ESPN, Aug. 29, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.
The national broadcast will air on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. CT, following the North Carolina-South Carolina game that begins at 5 p.m. CT.
Ole Miss and Vanderbilt are two of the SEC’s hottest teams entering 2013.
The Rebels are coming off a 7-6 season and BBVA Compass Bowl win over Pittsburgh in the first year under head coach Hugh Freeze, who also hauled in a consensus top-10 signing class in February. Ole Miss had six total wins in the previous two years before Freeze’s arrival.
The Commodores were 9-4 in 2012, their most wins in a season since 1915. In his first two years at the helm, head coach James Franklin has led VU to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in school history.
The last time Ole Miss opened the season against an SEC foe was in 2003, also a trip to Nashville to play the Commodores. That Rebel team defeated Vanderbilt 24-21.
The Rebels’ last Thursday game was the 2009 SEC opener at South Carolina.

Big Time Start to a Big Time Season!
This will be a huge game for our program and I will definitely be there.
It'll be here before we know it. Can't wait.
We beat Vandy this year! I don't want to see Franklin's s*** eating grin the whole game!
The Future Is Bright! Hotty Toddy
I know that they are legit now but it is embarrassing how we have to get up for this game. They should be a doormat. We are the main contributor to creating this monster. It is time to put them down.
Kill that man Patrick WIllis!
Plus one for everyone on the thread. This is a BIG DEAL!
Big recruiting season then you bat lead off for the college football season.
Are you kidding or are you ready?
Ill be there!
brandon, do you know what hotel the team is staying at.
I have rooms but not sure where. Contact the alumni association, if your not a member-join or you won't stay where the team stays and you better book em early!
Even being on a work night I don't think Rebel fans cared if the game didnt start until midnight as excited as we are lol!!
We had Vandy beat here this past year easily, but our lack of depth and errant play at the corner position costs us. I think we will close those games that we lead in the 4th quarter going forward much better than we did this past year. I also think we will be a much better team with more confidence, so unless Vandy is a lot better next year than they were this year, I don't see them tripping us up again.
Candy will be better. Our boys better be ready to strap it on. Good, news is that their running back is gone. Franklin is a badass coach tough. They will be ready for us.
