that makes sense to all of us... but sometimes people put in his situation just dont understand... honestly i hope he turns out and represents the State of Mississippi in the NFL... but at the same time he has the chance to do the opposite... (hence the Sydney story... i think that is a perfect example of what can happen... both ways)
3rdAnd57.com Only took me 4 days to get contacted by Ole Miss athletic department. I'd say I won the day

Just to update your information, here is a little report on Quay. He had a 3.3 gpa his first semester at State. He graduated early from high school, so participated in our spring training and spring game. He had 3 sacks in the spring game within the first 20 plays he played. He is legitimately 6-3 305 and legitimately runs under 4.9 in the 40. When Quay Evans decided that Mississippi State University was his preferred school of choice, the Ole Miss faithful, both in his home town and on the internet, disparaged his character. Like PoliticalHack mentioned, the situation with Quay was contrived in retribution to him signing with State. Those really in the know in Oxford know it, Quay knows it, his family knows it, people in Morton know it, and we know it.
One of your preferred players, Issac Gross, went to South Panola. He was a very good high school DT, but only 6 out of 29 South Panola kids you have signed in the last 20 years have ever finished at Ole Miss. Look it up. The Ole MIss alumni in Batesville treat players preferentially. I will be both surprised and happy, if Issac Gross becomes successful academically at Ole Miss, but he won't be anything special in college. Issac is 6-1 and weighs about 260, maybe 265. He is a tweener. He is not big enough to play tackle in the SEC and not long enough or fast enough to play DE. He is a lot like our Devin Jones. I'll take your promise, remember it, and revisit it in 4 years.
Channing Ward graduated from Aberdeen. Aberdeen's high school was taken over by the state because of serious problems in the school meeting minimal State requirements. There was some question whether Channing might not also get caught up in the dozen or so kids denied high school diploma's there. He is, by all accounts, a kid with great potential. The only reason he is at Ole Miss is his brother. Channing will likely be moved inside by your coaching staff. Whether he thrives as a DT, is another question.
This spring, not one of our entire roster of scholarship football players had a GPA of less than 2.2. You had over 20 players who couldn't meet the academic requirements to participate in spring training and Freeze had to beg the academic side of the Harvard of the South to double their coursework over the Christmas break to get some qualified. Your best player, by far, Nick Brassell, is gone. He simply refused to go to class. There are at least 20 others who acted as though college was a joke. Snoop is gone, and there may be 4-5 more who can't meet NCAA requirements by fall.
Those are the facts. You can beat your chest all you want about your recruiting this year, but Freeze knows he will be lucky to win 2 games this coming season. He offered over 1000. Using the Orgeron technique, he cast a wide net, and caught a few herring. By the way, how many of your commitments are from Mississippi again?

Quay is a GREAT kid and is going to be unbeleivably good at State for the next 3 years. He'll go pro early. He's smarter than most people realize and the motivational fire has been lit under his rear end by the OM faithful bad mouthing him. For that, we thank you.
