How far can this baseball team go?

  • I want honest opinions guys and gals...Do you feel this team is a Regional, Super Regional, WS team? What type of team is this? LET ME HEAR IT!!! I'm interested in YOUR opinions.

  • That's something I've been thinking a lot about. I think if we host a regional and have all aspects of the game clicking at the same time we are defiantly a Super team this year. There have been so many times that aspects of the game are perfect but it's never at the same time. That's what is missing. A complete series where all areas merge together. We find that and we could be WS bound. Otherwise, another average year. Hitting has been much better than last year, still having some bad days (mainly Saturday for whatever reason).

    I will say I'm pretty shocked at the ranking today. How do you drop 8 spots after losing series 2-1 on the road against a top 10 team? Seems a little much IMO.

    Pro's: We have great outfield defense. These guys can fly. They cover so much ground! A line shot is a easy out for them (esp. Bous, Will and Senq.) We have some strong bats, and especially against right handed pitching. We need Kirksey to get hot again!!

    We have the BEST second baseman in college baseball, in my opinion.

    W. Allen is starting to hit the ball better each game it seems.

    Con's: Our bullpen is struggling. When they finally make it into the game, they are allowing hits (big hits).

    Our SS's have been questionable throughout the season. We see moments of brilliance from them, but too inconsistant in my opinion.

    If we had a VERY SOLID two hole hitter, Yarbrough becomes that much better!! Granted Yarbrough bats second in the lineup often, but IF only we had one more bat that was dominant infront of him. But now I'm playing the what if game!

    **I think at this moment this team is somewhere between a Regional and Super Regional team. Here's the thing though, the upside to this team is through the roof!! If we could get our bullpen together, have timely pitching substitutions and hit just a little bit better, we might see this team hosting a Super Regional.

    AND MAYBE, just maybe, this is the team that makes the WS. No promises, but this team is VERY CLOSE to being very special.

    I agree. A regional / super regional team. The pitching is very young but still good! We showed Sat that you can put righty on righty or lefty on lefty and we can still smash your teeth in!

  • I think this is easily a Super Regional team. Aside from the hiccup we had in our schedule a few weeks ago, this has been a really solid team in all phases. I think the Houston series really shows what this team has as far as potential. We've gone 3-3 the past 2 weekends against top 10 teams. If we host a regional, I don't think there is any way we don't advance. Depending on the draw of the Super Regional, we've shown we can win a 3 game series with anyone after the Florida weekend. Best chance for an Omaha team in years.

  • i said from beginning... and i will stick by it... Potential for Omaha... but i see a game 3 loss in super regional... i just have that sick feeling... ya know?
