Saturday at noon on CBS, Ole Miss (18-4, 7-2 SEC) meets Missouri (16-6, 5-4) at the Tigers' new Mizzou Center.
Marshall Henderson and head coach Andy Kennedy.
For Missouri, its been no place like home. The Tigers are 13-0 inside its new playhouse. But, its been famine on the road as Missouri is 0-5 on the road. That includes Thursday night's 70-68 loss to Texas A&M in College Station.
Missouri had a one-point lead and the ball but a turnover by Phil Pressley let A&M have a shot at the win. Fabyon Harris hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to give the Aggies exactly that, a thrilling win and another road loss for the Tigers.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, comes off a solid 93-75 beat down of arch-rival Mississippi State Wednesday night at Tad Smith Coliseum. Junior guard Marshall Henderson scored 26 of his game-best 31 points in the second half. Murphy Holloway added 24 points and eight rebounds.
For Holloway, a 6-foot-7 senior center, it was his best game since a 22-point showing against Missouri in Ole Miss' 64-49 win at the Tad Pad.
Holloway said after the State win, the Rebels need to emulate the Florida Gators, who next week, could ascend to the No. 1 ranking nationally after Indiana lost to Illinois Thursday night in the final seconds.
"That's what I took out of the Florida game," Holloway said. "Whether they were up 20 or down 20, they played the same way."
Rebels coach Andy Kennedy was not happy that his team was not able to build off a 19-point halftime lead and instead settled for a "coast mode.
"We just coasted through there in the second half," Kennedy said. "We can't do that Saturday. Missouri is a good basketball team."
Ole Miss will need games like it got from Henderson and Holloway against State to battle the Tigers who will have star forward Lawrence Bowers available for the rematch. Bowers did not play in the 15-point loss in Oxford. He leads the Tigers at 15.5 points per game.
Henderson comes into the Missouri game at an even 20 points per game and that leads the SEC. Holloway enters with a nice round figures of 15 points and 10 rebounds a game for the 23rd ranked Rebels.
